Modal is a fiber of natural origin obtained by spinning cellulose fibers from wood (often beech) which is then treated using a ''chemical '' process (like all cellulose fibers such as bamboo and Tencel). The manufacturing of modal has very little impact on the environment. Indeed, the modal consumes much less water and energy than cotton and requires less surface for its production.
This cotton alternative is breathable and absorbent. It is designed to absorb dye and retain its color after washing in hot water, making it a popular choice for making underwear and sportswear. Textiles made from, or containing, modal can remain supple and soft even after several washes. Ideal for underwear, sweaters, sportswear (please note that our modal jersey sold in this section is lightweight so we do not recommend for leggings)
